Volunteer of the Year 

Lyn has served as a volunteer with the San Diego Firefighters Credit Union since its founding in 1984. She began her service on the Supervisory Committee before being elected to the Board of Directors in 1985. Over the past 41 years, she has provided exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the credit union and its members. During her tenure, she has served in every Board leadership position, including Director, Treasuer, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Board.

Lyn's distinguished career as a firefighter is equally impressive. She was one of the first eleven women hired by the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and spent her entire 28-year career in fire operations. She became the department's third female Captain and retired with the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Throughout her career, she was an active leader in several professional fire service organizations, including Women in the Fire Service, where she was a highly regarded speaker and panelist at regional and national conferences.

Before joining the fire service, Lyn worked in the banking industry, where she served as an internal auditor and assistant branch manager. She earned a bachelor's degree in Business and Finance, an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science, and is a California Certified Company Officer. Her unique combination of financial expertise and operational leadership has made her an invaluable asset to our credit union.

What sets Lyn apart is her wisdom, sound judgment, and unwavering dedication. During Board meetings—especially when we face complex or challenging decisions—her thoughtful insights consistently help guide the Board toward the right outcome. She approaches every issue with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to serving our members and ensuring the long-term success of the credit union.
