FL LODD - FALL FROM AERIAL LADDER AT STATION

A firefighter died Friday afternoon after falling 90 feet from a ladder during a training exercise. The firefighter fell from a ladder at Fire Station 61 at 2121 NW Third Ave. during a training exercise that was set to last all afternoon. Pompano Beach fire officials said the firefighter, identified as 50-year-old William Elliott, was rushed to North Broward Medical Center after the fall and was pronounced dead. Sandra King, of Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, said Elliott was at the top of the ladder, and another firefighter was also on the ladder below him. The other firefighter said he just saw Elliott fall to the ground. King said it is unclear whether Elliott was wearing a harness. The Broward Sheriff's Office said it is investigating. Firefighters and BSO deputies gathered at North Broward Medical Center. The firefighter had been with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue since 1989. FL LODD - FALL FROM AERIAL LADDER AT STATION:
