Fire Family Foundation Presents 2nd Annual Fire It Up! BBQ Competition

One Tasty Event, Two Great Causes


On September 30th grilling celebrities, local firefighters & BBQ Masters will go rib-to-rib in a heated competition for the title of BBQ Grand Champion. The 2nd Annual Fire It Up! BBQ competition is being held to benefit the African American Firefighter Museum and Fire Family Foundation.

Join in the fun to support efforts in assisting fire victims and the firefighters who take great risks to protect homes and communities. Meet and greet firefighters from across LA city, LA county and beyond. Come meet local firefighters, enjoy music and entertainment, complete with family friendly kid’s activities. The event is free for spectators who want to watch this heated competition and learn grilling tips from the masters. Tasting tickets range from $15 (pre-purchase, $20 at the door) to $60 for the VIP experience. Tasting tickets offer people an opportunity to taste some outstanding BBQ including ribs, chicken, pork, and brisket. VIP tickets include a full meal with tableside service in a private air-conditioned lounge, alcoholic beverages, and a BBQ swag bag.

Fire It Up! BBQ is Saturday, September 30th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Firefighters First Credit Union, 815 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles 90041. More information on competitors, vendors, and entertainers is at www.FireItUpBBQ.org.

It’s been an incredible journey, but it’s bittersweet to announce that Friday marked my last day with New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union. Some of the highlights: Implemented a data-driven marketing strategy that delivers over 1,800% annual ROI. Developed automated triggers to ensure members receive the right offers at the right time. Grew assets by 61% and increased products per new member from 1.88 to 2.62. Converted online banking to enhance the member experience.
